Okay, I’m sick of writing this out as I have on at least three different sites, so I’ll get to the point
FACTS
I have ADHD
I have trouble retaining information
I do pay attention and am Intelligent
My grades are slipping because I can’t retain information
Currently at high C and droppingNo one wants to help me. I asked all my teachers and my aunt, and I was given responses like “what do you want me to do about it?” “Figure it out on your own” “Your just being lazy” So they’re useless. I can’t figure it out on my own because I don’t know how, no one is willing to teach me how to do it on my own, or suggests ideas that do not work for me, and online doesn’t work because it’s either too slow, too complicated (PEN#? What is that?!) to sign up, or I simply don’t retain it. I’m out of options and need to confront my issues NOW. There’s no more hiding, shortcuts, or “oh it doesn’t matter anyways”. I need to resolve my issues before I lose what little sanity I have left. I have considered threating to commit suicide to get attention, but I know it’ll be the wrong kind of attention so I won’t bother.

Hi asdf,
Thanks for reaching out here and telling us your story. It sounds like you’re getting tired of having to tell it again and again and not really finding anyone who’s willing to help you.
Looking for an answer seems like it’s wearing you down. It sounds like you feel like you’re standing on a table shouting, and everyone is just walking by as if nothing was happening at all. It’s scary to think that you’re feeling so ignored that you would consider threatening suicide just to get someone to TRULY hear how you’re struggling. I can definitely hear how REAL and frustrating this is for you, and how important it is to have someone listen. I wonder what you would tell people if they finally stopped to listen to you? What kind of help would you ask for? Is there anyone in the past who has helped you out?
We can’t tell you what to do here, but we can definitely listen to the feelings that you’re having and be a sounding board for any ideas that you do have. I know that you said that online stuff wasn’t working for you — let us know if you change your mind, and we can post some links for you, and maybe talk about some of the ideas that are on them?
This is tough stuff to deal with asdf, and even more difficult when you end up being so alone with it. I can imagine that the lack of support leaves you feeling devalued and intensely frustrated and angry. We’re definitely here for you, both on the forum and chat. There is also email counselling available on our website — it’s a bit slow (a few days between responses), but it gets you in contact with a professional counsellor.
Keep connected,
The Support Team -

RE the Administrator’s commment: “There is also email counselling available on our website — it’s a bit slow (a few days between responses), but it gets you in contact with a professional counsellor.”
I am not a “youth” and this site is called youthspace.ca — can i still access your email counselling. I am a female, 59 years of age? My story?… just read the story from asdf MEMBER, Tue, 5 Nov 9:15pm. I just read this heartbreaking post from “asdf”– I identify completely with everything said, including have a mental illness, feeling that suicide is the only way to get attention, and feeling that even THAT won’t work…NO ONE WILL HELP ME. -

Hello sad,
Thanks for your post. You’re right in thinking that our services are for youth…we can work with folks up to 30 years old, so unfortunately you do fall outside of our age limits at 59. I do hear how low you are feeling right now, and how desperate you are to reach out for help. I commend you for putting your thoughts into words and reaching out for help.
You can access an online chat support service at http://www.vicrisis.ca/ from 6pm-10pm PST, they don’t have an age limit and offer very similar support to ours.
Take care, sad, we’ll be thinking of you
the Support Team
